The seasons rush by like a jet plane, but there’s always time to make a cake with my baby 💕 This one is a four-layer chocolate number with a ludicrous amount of yellow-tinted frosting. Crushed dairy-free smarties and chocolate eggs to finish.

Coffee pecan blondies!

Back in experimental mode this week 🥰Today’s offering is coffee-pecan-choc-chip blondies, developed partly for my mum (who has been dropping hints for years). I originally intended to ripple a coffee caramel sauce through the batter too, but decided not to in the end, and I think it’s better that way.

Fear not, the coffee caramel sauce was put to good use, swirled into a Barbra Streisand- inspired coffee ice cream (currently setting in the freezer). The perfect partner for the blondies, and an epic pudding later 😍

After twelve themed cakes (everything from Peter R

After twelve themed cakes (everything from Peter Rabbit to Minions, My Little Pony, Coco, Encanto, Kermit the frog and Rapunzel… and everything in between), my daughter decided she’d like to switch to number cakes. This came as both a relief and sadness, in a funny way. My baby is growing up.

So, this is my first attempt at a number cake; the “1” being a Black Forest gateau and the “3”a Victoria sponge. She was thrilled with the end result and had a wonderful birthday tea 💕🧁

Yep I know it’s too early for mince pies (but it’s also never too early for mince pies, amirite?) 😍

Had a blood-curdling moment when I recently realised I hadn’t included my absolute favourite crumble-topped mince pies in my book… a batch was rapidly made to refresh my memory😬

They have now been added to the Christmas chapter, which was by far my favourite chapter to write. Order restored.

I’ve really found my flow these past few weeks and tapped away at my laptop, editing my manuscript, almost non-stop. I’m so tired, my neck aches, I’m square-eyed and feel I’ve done all I possibly can.

I’m ready for it to be seen (and no doubt gently ripped apart by someone who actually knows what they are doing!). I’m not a professional writer. Far from it 😂 I’m just obsessed with creating good things to eat.

Not sure what happens next; attempting to get a book published is a mystery to me. I’m just so very happy, and relieved, to have gotten this far with it! 🎉
